Making an underwriting decision feel explainable
An underwriting decision can arrive in seconds, but the person receiving it still needs to understand it. A figure on its own can feel final and arbitrary, especially when it affects a business or a household.
Good product design gives the decision some context. Show the factors that informed it, separate the essentials from the detail, and use language that a non-specialist can follow. If there is a condition attached to an offer, put it where people will see it.
Explainability is not about exposing every calculation. It is about helping someone answer three practical questions: what was decided, why, and what can I do next? When those answers are clear, an automated process feels more considered and more credible.
